Biography

Mark as a little boy

This is me

I was born here in Portland but was torn away from here as a baby to follow my dad as he entered the Air Force. After an interesting childhood spent moving to and from places like Homestead, Florida and Ft. Worth, Texas. It was kind of weird I guess but I didn't know any different.
After high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado, I came back to Oregon attend college. My plan was to move as far away from my family as possible. But my brothers and sisters followed suit and my dad retired from the Air Force and moved here. So now I live within a couple miles from everyone.
So much for my plan.
During my junior year of college, I needed an upper-division fine art class and saw Basic Photography on the schedule. I thought that would be interesting. It turned out to be a life changing event. After a couple years of managing a restaurant, I embarked on a career in commercial photography. I started at the in-house studio for Fred Meyer advertising and after an ownership change, I freelanced for a couple of years. In 2002 I had the opportunity to become the staff photographer in the Marketing department of A-dec, a manufacturer of dental equipment. Since I've been there, I've had the chance to broaden my skill set and try new things.
During the 80s I had four wonderful children. I introduce them on the Family and Friends page.
